Everyone in Ontario is aware of serious problems in the towing industry.
Criminal elements have found it a fast way to make a buck. It has become Guns, Gangs and Tow Trucks. Untrained operators are getting killed on the highways. There is gang violence over “territory.” Consumers are being overcharged by unscrupulous operators, Unsafe equipment is being put into service… equipment, that doesn’t even meet the definition of a tow truck. Multiple trucks race unsafely to be first to the scene of an incident. And, there is no effective regulation or licensing in place in Ontario to clean up the problem.
The simple solution is to define and license only those vehicles that are legitimate tow vehicles, regulate minimum standards of training for drivers and ensure standards for insurance and operating practices.
We are the Provincial Towing Association of Ontario and we need your help to encourage the Ontario Government to enact regulations to prevent unsafe and unscrupulous practices in our industry.
We need to license companies, equipment and drivers who are qualified to tow safely. We need proper regulations for the towing industry to ensure safe, reliable and fair service to Ontario.
